Hugh Jackman Rescued Swimmers (Including His Son) From A Dangerous Tide In Australia

March 28, 2016

Add this to the ever-growing list of reasons why Hugh Jackman is the coolest guy around — the actor helped save several swimmers (including his son Oscar) from a dangerous riptide this past weekend at Bondi Beach in Sydney (video below).

The "X-Men" actor was taped in a video that shows him getting the attention of swimmers in the water to tell them to swim back to safety. He's then seen retrieving several swimmers, grabbing the arm of a man and pulling him out of the tide's path while he holds onto a young girl. His own teenage son, Oscar, was among the swimmers he helped to shore.

The North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club took to Instagram to give an update, saying that multiple rescues had to happen that day due to unexpectedly dangerous tides and rising waters. "@thehughjackman was also spotted assisting with rescues! Thanks Hugh," the message read.

WELL DONE to Patrol 13 captained by Rosie Taliano & Tom Bunting this afternoon who completed 43 rescues in total with only a limited 12 patrolling members rostered on. There were also 3 rescues in the morning completed by Patrol 10. A big THANK YOU to Waverley Duty Officers, @brontesurfclub, @bondisblsc, @bondilifeguards and @surfrescue30 for your extra assistance. The beach had to be closed due to dangerous conditions, multiple rescues happening all at once and limited resources. @thehughjackman was also spotted assisting with rescues!
