Everyone knows that anything you see on the Internet on April 1st needs to be taken with a grain of salt — online April Fools' pranks have become common place now, whether it's Netflix renaming a movie genre something silly or YouTube partnering with Snoop Dogg for a groundbreaking viewer experience. While they're always a fun distraction, every once in a while there's a prank that hits a little too close to home. That's the case for this prank poster of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" that's likely to make your heart skip a beat. Prepare yourself:
Captioned by Imgur user Olly Gibbs as an "exclusive first look at 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' poster," the spoof features everyone's least favorite comic relief character taking over EVERY single role — the infamous Jar Jar Binks himself! A negatively received character from both audiences and critics alike, Jar Jar jokes have become a sort of running gag amongst movie fans, and this impressively photoshopped poster might be one of the best ones yet. This creation also gets special bonus points for including "Poster by Olly Gibbs" in the credits at the bottom of the poster — it's all in the little details, people! Still, it's hard to deny that even the mere thought of this poster becoming a reality is enough to give any fan nightmares for a week (no offense, Jar Jar).
"Rogue One" is set to be directed by Gareth Edwards and follows a band of rebel fighters who steal the plans for the first Death Star. Taking place before the events of "A New Hope," the cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed and Forest Whitaker.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 16, 2016. The first trailer for the movie is expected to drop around the same time as the release of "Captain America: Civil War," which is scheduled for May 6. Let's hope this newest prank doesn't give any studio heads any creative ideas, right?
