Watch The Hilarious First Teaser Trailer For "The LEGO Batman Movie"

March 24, 2016

While we're about to see a new Caped Crusader on screen portrayed by Ben Affleck in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," we won't have to wait too long after to see a much different (and much more hilarious) version of the Dark Knight. There is no denying "The LEGO Movie" had a plethora of great characters, but there was just something so great about the cynical Batman who quipped excellent one-liners that resonated so well with audiences. As a result, he was given his own solo movie, and finally we have our first look at "The LEGO Batman Movie" with this teaser trailer that just dropped today. Check it out for yourself.

We don't get much in terms of plot from this trailer, but there are some important takeaways. First of all, it looks like "The LEGO Batman Movie" is shaping up to be just as witty and funny as its plastic building block predecessor. Will Arnett is expectedly on point as he returns with his scruffy voice as Batman, who this time around is all about laying some sick beats as to opposed to the heavy metal he had a penchant for in the first film. Beyond that, we see a quite self-assured superhero returning to his gigantic Batcave, telling his only friend Puter (of course that's the name of his computer system) that he was just out saving the city once again. Changing into a chest-baring smoking jacket, he learns that Alfred left his favorite meal in the fridge, which then leads into a well-paced microwave joke. Because really, how else does LEGO Batman eat than heating up leftovers? It's not like Alfred can perfectly time when he'll be back from saving the city to make sure a hot dinner is ready on the table.

Another fun bit from the trailer is that we see Batman leading the Justice League into battle, so we know we'll get to see other DC superheroes in their hilarious plastic form — such as Wonder Woman, Superman, Cyborg and The Flash. Traditionally, first solo comic movies don't have other major superheroes making an appearance — but as we all know, this isn't any normal superhero movie.

Joining Will Arnett as Batman will be Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Michael Cera as Robin, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred and Mariah Carey as Mayor Marion Grange. Chris McKay, who directed the original Lego movie (as well "Robot Chicken") will also be back again. "The LEGO Batman Movie" is set to hit theaters February 10th, 2017.
