Every Hallow's Eve, there is bound to be a costume that, despite effort by the creator or purchaser, is an abysmal blunder. A few from this year have already acquired infamy, some more distressing than others. However, one Halloween costume fail comes to mind that is less embarrassing and more heartwarming.

Redditor johnfmartino bought a costume reminiscent of Ariel from the 1993 animated Disney classic The Little Mermaid, red wig and all, for his dog. His pet's reaction, which he captured on video, did not particularly meet his expectations.

As seen in the video, the owner shows a close-up shot of the costume's packaging, exhibiting what his pug should really look like when fully dressed. When he pulls the package out of the shot, he exposes his pug expressing rejection toward the outfit. While it is clear that the dog successfully managed to toss mermaid fin skirt aside, we cannot tell from the video if it is either eating the wig or struggling desperately to escape it. Maybe it's a bit of both.

If we were to give this pug owner a word of advice, it would be to let his pug choose its costume next year.
