Multiple United States diplomats stationed in China have fallen ill after hearing "strange sounds." Not only have the diplomats been falling ill to mysterious sounds, but their families have also been hospitalized in some of the cases after hearing similar noises. The victims describe hearing the sounds then experiencing minor to severe headaches which would later be determined by medical professionals as concussions and in some cases minor brain injuries. Almost all officials have been evacuated while at least 24 of the officials have been hospitalized along with their families for further testing.

This may seem familiar, due to the fact that similar reports came out of Cuba in 2016 according to a New York Times article. Back then, the U.S. pulled a lot of government officials out of Cuba, even expelling at least 20 Cuban Diplomats from the U.S. while creating a larger presence around all other government buildings in order to respond effectively, which was also later covered by the New York Times.

However, with this strike occurring in the already high tension port city of Guangzhou, China, the U.S. has been reluctant to move quickly or rashly.

Furthermore, there is a concern over the possibility of Russian involvement in the strike due to the current investigations around the regions and other recent meddlings in U.S. affairs.

In fact, the New York Times interviewed the first diplomat to have suffered headaches who also had directly interacted with Russia/U.S. relations quoted here:

"Mr. Lenzi worked for the diplomatic security department, and he believes that his work could have made him a target. Before joining the Foreign Service in 2011, he worked with the International Republican Institute, funded by Congress, promoting democratic reforms in Ukraine and Georgia --- two countries where Russia has denounced American involvement."

The tensions between these nations put a large amount of political strain on any investigative teams that may help in discovering why these things are happening but for now, no officials or government agencies have answers as to why all of these U.S. Diplomats are becoming ill to similar strange noises.
