The holiday season is a time, not only of giving, but of celebrating the intermingling of different cultural beliefs. Whether you are decorating a tree, lighting a menorah, or putting up an aluminum pole, all are welcome to celebrate the season. The Illinois Capitol took that belief to heart this month when they received this gift:

This sculpture, called a "Snaketivity," is a gift to the Illinois Capitol from the Chicago Branch of the Satanic Temple. It is currently sitting in the rotunda next to a Christmas tree, a menorah, and a Nativity scene. The decidedly unholy mix is honored by the Capitol, however, in recognition of the Temple's constitutional rights.

"Under the Constitution, the First Amendment, people have a right to express their feelings, their thoughts," Illinois Representative Dave Druker told The State Journal-Record. "This recognizes that."

The sculpture dons the appearance of a woman's forearm, with a snake wrapped around it, holding an apple with a red light emitting from its surface and has a message printed on its base that reads "Knowledge is the greatest gift."

At first glance, it may appear that the "Snaketivity" represents Eve's temptation by Satan in the Garden of Eden as depicted in the Bible, but the Temple claims that would not exactly be the case.

In fact, the organization claims not to worship the Christian image of the Devil but is rather a secular group that protests the promotion of religion and displays that symbolize its teachings. The sculpture given to the Illinois Capitol rotunda bearing a message of knowledge's importance may be their latest effort to protect their image after they recently accused the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina of misrepresenting a statue depicting their goat-head symbol as evil.

What do you think? Should this season of acceptance, and the First Amendment nonetheless, be honored by allowing the Satanic Temple to express their beliefs next to symbols that counter their beliefs harmoniously, or is this sculpture an evil abomination of Christmas' true meaning that should be destroyed along with the vile monsters who created it?
